The foundation, which is the non-profit arm of Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare Services, said Attorney General Kamala Harris did not provide specific reasons for the decision. The 14-hospital operator also said the AG is using "the legal authority of her office to make league with one particular labor organization that has been running a blatantly false smear campaign" against Prime, according to the system's news release.
Prime has recently faced criticism from investigative news outlet California Watch. CW reported on Prime's outside rates of medical conditions that Medicare pays a premium to treat, like septicemia. Those reports have been followed by state investigations, according to the Press-Enterprise report.
