California clinic owner sentenced to prison for fraud scheme

A California sleep clinic owner was sentenced to 46 months in prison for submitting more than $1.5 million fraudulent claims to Medicare and Medi-Cal.

Jeremy Gober, 43, co-owned and operated Fresno, Calif.-based Got Sleep, which operated sleep clinics in Fresno and Orange County, according to a June 6 Justice Department news release.

From August 2016 through July 2020 he caused Got Sleep to submit thousands of claims to Medicare and Medi-Cal for sleep studies that were not actually performed on patients, according to the release.

Mr. Gober pleaded guilty to healthcare fraud and aggravated identity theft charges in November.

His brother, Travis Gober, was sentenced in March to 19 months in prison for his conviction for a similar healthcare fraud and aggravated identity theft scheme related to other sleep clinics, according to the release.
