California bill would reopen shuttered Madera Community Hospital

California Assembly Bill 412, which would provide millions in funds to reopen hospitals and keep them open, is working its way through the California legislative process, ABC30 reported April 7.

If the bill is approved, Madera County Hospital, which closed in December 2022, could reopen.

"Even for some limited number of beds. We can get 25-30 beds, as an emergency — an emergency room, some beds, emergency surgeries," Mohammed Ashraf, MD, a cardiologist at Madera County Hospital, told ABC30 in support of passing Bill 412.
