Baylor Health System to Pay $907k for Alleged False Claims

Dallas-based Baylor Health Care System and Baylor University Medical Center have agreed to pay roughly $907,000 to resolve allegations that it submitted false claims to Medicare for various oncology services.

The government claims that, from 2006 through May 2010, Baylor double-billed Medicare for procedures affiliated with radiation treatment plans, billed for certain high reimbursement radiation oncology services when a different, less expensive service should have been billed, billed for procedures without supporting medical record documentation and improperly billed for radiation treatment delivery without documentation of physician supervision.

HealthTexas Provider Network, the multispecialty medical group affiliated with Baylor, was also named in the settlement.
