Barbara Dawson died after being forcibly removed from Calhoun Liberty Hospital last December. Now, her family has filed suit against the Blountstown, Fla.-based hospital, according to a WCTV report.
The family's wrongful death suit, which was filed in federal court, names Calhoun Liberty and two of its employees, the officer who came to arrest 57-year-old Ms. Dawson at the hospital and the City of Blountstown as defendants.
The two employees named in the suit, paramedic Drew Peacock and nurse Jennifer Waldorff, RN, were removed from their normal duties at the hospital in January and fired in March. The suit alleges their actions the day of the incident were "unreasonable and unwarranted," according to the report.
The suit further alleges false imprisonment and battery, saying Mr. Peacock, Ms. Waldorff and Blountstown police officer John Tadlock tried to force Ms. Dawson into the police cruiser while she was unconscious.
"We're reviewing the complaint filed in federal court and we look forward to the opportunity to respond to the allegations made," a spokeswoman for Calhoun Liberty told WCTV.
