Ten current and former employees have sued New York City-based NewYork-Presbyterian for $15 million after an operating room director at the system's hospital in Queens allegedly discriminated against them for a variety of reasons, including sexual orientation, age and gender, according to local TV station WLNY.
The employees claim they reported the discrimination to human resources and others but nothing was done to stop the unjust treatment. One employee, who worked in the operating room for more than four decades, said the OR director discriminated against her based on her age and the administration tried to cover it up, according to the report.
A hospital spokesperson told WLNY that allegations about the workplace are taken seriously, but it's the hospital's policy not to comment on an ongoing lawsuit.
