Nevada Regional Medical Center Reduces Workforce

Nevada (Mo.) Regional Medical Center has eliminated 11 percent of its staff, according to a Nevada Daily Mail report.

The 71-bed hospital cut the positions through layoffs, transfers and doing away with empty positions. Prior to laying off employees, NRMC officials evaluated employees on work performance, departmental need and individual skill sets, according to the report.

NRMC's workforce reduction stems from decreasing Medicaid and Medicare reimbursements, which will result in a loss of $8 million over six years, the Nevada Daily Mail reported. The hospital is also struggling financially due to government regulations, lower patient volumes and patients' inability to pay.
