Asheville, N.C.-based Mission Health has eliminated 130 jobs as part of a reorganization plan, but shared plans to eventually add more workers, according to a Citizen-Times report.
Next year, the six-hospital system will add 147 jobs to handle outpatient services growth, according to the report. Additionally, the system will add 37 workers to care for mental health patients.
Mission Health is aiming to cut $42 million in annual costs and grow revenue by $10 million. Other changes related to this goal, other than the initial workforce reduction, include the following:
- Reducing malpractice and workers compensation payments by $10 million annually
- Ceasing to allow its executives to carry forward paid time off, saving $1.6 million
"We are reshaping our organization to meet the needs of our community in the future and there will be more caregivers at Mission next year than there are here today," Ron Paulus, CEO of Mission Health, told the Citizen-Times.
