Florala (Ala.) Memorial Hospital has closed without advanced notice to the city, according to an Andalusia Star-News report.
The hospital's closure also means its 48 employees are now out of work.
FMH, a privately owned community hospital, closed after a financial struggle, according to the report. "The hospital being privately owned means it is a business just like any other with its owner having full discretion as to when to close or open," Florala's Mayor Robert Williamson told the Andalusia Star-News.
According to the report, FMH was owned by Robert Devrnja, MD.
