Carthage (N.Y.) Area Hospital plans to lay off 90 workers, or 20 percent of its staff, according to a Watertown Daily Times report.
This is the second round of layoffs at the hospital in the last year, as Carthage Area Hospital eliminated 29 jobs in 2013, according to the report.
Carthage Area Hospital is also eliminating 20 beds and consolidating dietary services with its assisted-living facility.
The changes are a result of reduced reimbursements, increased federal and state regulations and the shift from inpatient to outpatient care, according to the report.
