Bronson Healthcare, based in Kalamazoo, Mich., will open a clinic at a Meijer retail store in Portage, Mich., this April.
The clinic, called Bronson FastCare, will function similarly as other retail clinics, like those at Walgreens or CVS, offering patients quick care for minor conditions and some lab services. Licensed nurse practitioners and physician assistants will provide the care under the guidance of nearby emergency medicine physicians.
Bellin Health, a nonprofit health system based in Green Bay, Wis., developed the FastCare brand in 2006. Health systems from Avera in Aberdeen, S.D., to Einstein Healthcare Network in Philadelphia have partnered with Bellin to create their own FastCare clinics.
Bronson FastCare will be the second in Michigan and the 27th in the U.S.
