The FDA approved a Labcorp COVID-19, flu and respiratory syncytial virus test for use without a prescription, the agency said May 16.
The test is the first non-prescription multi-analyte COVID-19 test the FDA has authorized, the agency said.
The test involves an at-home nasal swab that is sent to Labcorp for analysis. Individuals can see their results on an online portal.
The kit can be purchased online or in a store, the agency said. Samples can be self-collected by anyone 18 or older and by anyone aged 14 to 17 with adult supervision. Adults can collect samples from children 2 years and older.
