Independent diagnostics firm Neelyx Labs is now processing monkeypox PCR tests.
Neelyx can process up to 8,000 tests per day, the lab said July 11. It has also released its own CDC-compliant monkeypox PCR test.
The lab was established in 2020 as a COVID-19 testing lab.
"We have high capacity that was proven during [COVID-19], and we've duplicated those logistics for monkeypox testing,” CEO and lead scientist Shyam Saladi, PhD, said in a news release. "Healthcare facilities and public health departments need flexibility and capacity to process thousands of specimens in aggregate or to focus on smaller subsets of high-priority cases. We support this with fast turnaround of PCR test results within 20 minutes through existing EMR portals."
