Aurora, Colo.-based UCHealth led a $10 million funding round for a patient access startup the health system says can create a "more seamless and integrated" healthcare experience.
The health system backed Hummingbird Healthcare in the late June series A funding round after providing seed funding for the company a year earlier. The company is building an Epic-based platform with patient self-service and automation for primary and specialty care access.
"Healthcare needs to do better at creating a more seamless and integrated experience for our patients before, during, and after their care," UCHealth CIO Steve Hess said in a statement. "With Hummingbird, we have a partner who understands both how to identify gaps and to make the necessary adjustments to operate more efficiently and effectively for our patients and staff.
"We continue to unlock enormous potential from our digital platforms by making people, process, and technology changes, and see no reason why our learnings can't be implemented at other world-class health systems."
Also participating in the funding round was the CU Healthcare Innovation Fund, which also includes Children's Hospital Colorado and the University of Colorado Anschutz, both based in Aurora.
