Virginia primary care group using AI tool to identify medical conditions

Forest, Va.-based Central Virginia Family Physicians is partnering with healthcare artificial intelligence company Navia to help physicians identify potentially life-threatening conditions, such as chronic diabetes, chronic kidney disease and morbid obesity, Fox Wilmington reported May 15.

The tool works to compile medical data from multiple sources and save physicians time from combing through the EHR. For every patient visit, physicians spend an average of 16 minutes and 14 seconds using EHR data to review data and make notes, according to the report.

"In bringing AI to the primary point of care was to make the patient-provider interaction more meaningful and effective by giving physicians deep patient understanding in the little time they have," Navina CEO Ronen Lavi, told Fox.
