U of Michigan Health, RWJBarnabas Health using Nuance's AI tech to improve their digital front door

The University of Michigan Health in Ann Arbor and RWJBarnabas Health in West Orange, N.J., use Nuance's patient engagement solutions to increase patient reach and improve communication with patients.

The Nuance platform can integrate within a clinic's EHR system. Additionally, the platform allows for communication with patients via mobile phones instead of through a patient portal, according to an Aug. 31 Nuance news release.

"Patients want the conveniences they have in other facets of their life — say with banking or shopping online — when scheduling appointments or receiving care reminders," said Peter Durlach, executive vice president and chief strategy officer at Nuance. "With decades of experience in creating meaningful customer experiences with the world's most trusted and recognizable brands, Nuance is working with the most forward-looking healthcare institutions in the country to deliver patients the digital convenience they need and desire to make pursuing good health as seamless as possible while also dramatically lowering staffing costs at a time every health system in stressed financially."
