Google Cloud launched a new artificial intelligence-powered claims acceleration suite designed to accelerate the prior authorization process.
Google aims for new offerings to help healthcare plans meet new requirements by leveraging the Health Level 7 Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources application program interface. Blue Shield of California has already adopted the technology, according to an April 13 Google Cloud news release.
"It's time to modernize the prior authorization process, leverage current technology to improve access to care, and extract value to better serve the people in our communities," Amy Waldron, director of global health plans strategy and solutions of Google Cloud, said in the release. "Our Claims Acceleration Suite is a great example of Google Cloud's AI driving much-needed operational efficiencies by reducing the manual administrative work for providers; allowing payers to focus their time on clinical evaluation and review, improving speed to care; and extracting value from a process without disrupting the roles experts play in claims decisions."
