Knoxville, Tenn.-based Covenant Health has announced a partnership alongside Roane State Community College and the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville to build a healthcare training facility, the Oak Ridger reported Feb. 13.
The Knox Regional Health Science and Simulation Center is designed to train healthcare professionals using comprehensive simulations and is expected to cost $75 million. It will give local students hands-on training and connect them with clinical opportunities at Covenant Health, the report said.
"Educating the healthcare professionals of tomorrow is a vital part of caring for our communities, and we’re very proud of our collaborative clinical training initiatives with more than a dozen colleges and universities, including Roane State," Jim VanderSteeg, president and CEO of Covenant Health, said in a news release.
Once the budget for the project is approved by the state Legislature, , Roane State, Covenant Health and TCAT Knoxville plan to have the facility completed within three years.
