Case Western, University Hospitals granted $6M for AI research

Cleveland-based University Hospitals and Case Western Reserve University received $6.2 million in grants from the National Institutes of Health to study how artificial intelligence can predict cardiovascular disease, local news outlet The Daily Case reported April 24.

The research will use deep learning models and CT scans to analyze the amount of calcium in coronary arteries.

The grant was awarded because of University Hospitals' Clarify Registry, which allows community members with high-risk factors to access free CT scans.
