Spright, a division of air medical provider Air Methods,signed a $16 million deal with Wingcopter, part of which includes a fleet of new delivery drones.
The deal adds to an existing partnership between the companies, according to the Jan. 24 news release. Part of the deal provides Spright with Wingcopter's new flagship delivery drones, which can withstand strong winds, operate autonomously and carry more than 13 pounds (6 kilograms), according to the company's website.
Spright was launched in July 2020 and serves hundreds of hospitals across 48 states, mainly in rural areas, according to the release. Currently it is collaborating with Hutchinson, Kan.-based Hutchinson Regional Health System with plans to expand services beyond Kansas.
