The World Health Organization is seeking up to 25 experts for its newly launched Scientific Advisory Group for the Origins of Novel Pathogens.
The new group "will advise WHO on technical and scientific considerations regarding the origins of emerging and re-emerging pathogens of epidemic and pandemic potential, and will be composed of a wide range of experts acting in their personal capacity," an Aug. 20 statement said, adding that it will also guide the WHO on next steps for analyzing the origins of SARS-CoV-2.
The advisory group is seeking people with expertise in a number of technical disciplines, including infectious disease epidemiology, field research, virology, bioinformatics, biosafety, health statistics, among others.
The WHO is accepting applications to serve on the new group through Sept. 10.
