COVID-19 was the most deadly infectious disease in 2022, followed by tuberculosis, according to a Statista report.
The report used World Health Organization data to determine the global deaths for four infectious diseases in 2022.
Here are the top four infectious disease by number of deaths:
- COVID-19: 1.24 million
- Tuberculosis: 1.13 million
- HIV/AIDS: 630,000
- Malaria: 620,000
