Union leaders said Indiana (Pa.) Regional Medical Center nurses plan to walk off the job later this month, according to the Indiana Gazette.
The nurses scheduled the one-day strike for Nov. 26, with union leaders citing "little progress" at the bargaining table, the report states.
The Indiana Registered Nurses Association and medical center have been negotiating a new contract for an estimated 380 union members. The old contract expired Oct. 31.
During negotiations, health insurance costs have reportedly been a key sticking point. A union representative said the medical center's latest offer "would drive up the employee contributions in some family plans," while a hospital representative argued the current insurance model for nurses "is not a sustainable model for our continued independence," according to the Indiana Gazette.
Additional contract talks are scheduled for November and December. Meanwhile, hospital officials are preparing for a possible strike, including having an agreement with a strike support staffing agency.
