Forty-seven registered nurses and healthcare professionals at Mercy Home Care in West Springfield, Mass.-based Mercy Home Care voted to join the Massachusetts Nurses Association.
"We are very excited to join the MNA," said Chris Mangano, an registered nurse at Mercy Home Care. "This is a win for our patients and our nurses. When nurses and other health care professionals have a real, independent voice in the care we are able to provide our patients it benefits all of us. We hope to work with everyone at Mercy Home Care in a positive way to create excellent outcomes for everyone involved."
The MNA said in a news release it represents more than 23,000 nurses and healthcare professionals in nearly 90 facilities. Recently unionized Mercy Home Health registered nurses and healthcare professionals will now negotiate their first contract.
