The American Medical Association launched a customizable, interactive mapping tool illustrating the geographic distribution of the healthcare workforce.
The tool can filter physician and non-physician workforce by specialty and state. The map can also identify workforce shortage areas. Residents can use the map to determine what regions are most in need of their specialty and identify high-priority areas of workforce expansion.
The interactive map can also deliver users comprehensive data on population health, including morbidity and mortality rates per health indicator, rates of smoking or alcohol use by region, racial and age demographics and region-specific social environmental factors influencing population health.
