1. Healthcare workers rally outside California hospital after layoffs
St. Joseph Hospital, Eureka (Calif.) workers rallied Jan. 24 to protest recent layoffs and what they called a staffing crisis at the facility.
2. Labor board schedules hearing on complaints against Johns Hopkins
A federal labor board will investigate allegations that Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins Hospital interfered in unionization efforts by its nurses.
3. Understaffing is hurting patients, Zuckerberg nurses tell health panel
A group of Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital nurses allege staffing is inadequate at the facility and that patient care is suffering due to high workloads.
4. Pennsylvania hospital nurses, in talks over a year, set strike date
Nurses at Wilkes-Barre (Pa.) General Hospital intend to strike Feb. 13 unless an agreement on staffing and patient care issues is reached.
5. Rhode Island hospital workers ratify labor deal
Healthcare workers at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, R.I., and the Rehabilitation Hospital of Rhode Island in North Smithfield reached a three-year contract agreement with management.
