1. 4,000 Kaiser mental health clinicians say they're prepared to walk off job
About 4,000 mental health clinicians at Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente facilities revealed they are prepared to strike for five days if no contract agreement is reached.
2. University of Illinois-Chicago nurses suspend strike after CEO agrees to participate in talks
Licensed practical nurses at Chicago-based University of Illinois Hospital and Clinics suspended their strike Nov. 19 and are back at work.
3. NLRB says there's more evidence of Johns Hopkins' interference with unionization
The National Labor Relations Board for the third time reportedly found merit to claims that Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins Hospital officials are interfering in nurses' unionization efforts.
4. Kaiser Permanente, Alliance of Health Care Unions agreement in effect
A new three-year agreement between Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente and the Alliance of Health Care Unions was ratified by all locals in the Alliance.
5. Pennsylvania hospital nurses call strike
Union leaders said Indiana (Pa.) Regional Medical Center nurses scheduled a one-day strike for Nov. 26. Hospital officials subsequently asked nurses to cancel the strike, citing costs that would result from the walkout.
6. Tenet hospital nurses in Michigan ratify first contract
Nurses have ratified their first agreement with Commerce Township, Mich.-based Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital, a Detroit Medical Center affiliate owned by Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare.
7. Southcoast Health hires consulting firm amid unionization push
Southcoast Health System officials said they are against nurses' unionization efforts at New Bedford, Mass.-based St. Luke's Hospital and have hired a consulting firm to provide information about organizing to workers.
8. Astria Health workers picket over staffing, pay
Sunnyside, Wash.-based Astria Health nurses and healthcare workers picketed Nov. 20 in front of Astria Regional Medical Center in Yakima, Wash., amid contract negotiations.
