Unionized workers at University of California hospitals will strike May 21 to 22, according to a U-T San Diego report.
Members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 3299 authorized the strike in a vote last week.
According to the report, the University of California plans to get a restraining order against the strike because the strike would "pose an imminent threat to public health and safety and would improperly withhold healthcare from members of the public."
The union represents about 13,000 UC hospital employees, including respiratory therapists, nursing aides, security guards and hospitality workers, among others.
