Hundreds of registered nurses at Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health's East Bay hospitals will walk off the job May 17 as part of a union strike, according to a Contra Costa Times report.
The nurses, who are members of the California Nurses Association, will be on strike May 17 through May 24, according to the report. The affected hospitals are Alta Bates Summer Medical Center in Berkeley and Oakland, Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, San Leandro (Calif.) Hospital and Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch.
According to the report, the union has reached contract agreements with other Sutter hospitals in the area, but not in the East Bay. Nurses at these hospitals have gone on strike multiple times in the past.
Sutter officials say replacement workers will be hired and the facilities will stay open during the strike, according to the Contra Costa Times.
