Powerful storms in Albany, Ga., in early January have left many homes and buildings in disrepair. While analyzing the damage and continuing to care for patients, Albany-based Phoebe Putney Health System has taken steps to take care of its own employees, many of whom have suffered losses, the Albany Herald reports.
The health system has assisted more than 200 employees with storm recovery needs, including temporary housing for more than 20 employees and their families; 824 meals; and cash donations, much of which was donated by other Phoebe employees, according to the report.
Thirty-six Phoebe hospital facilities were severely damaged from the Jan. 2 storm, with damage valued at $3.6 million, according to the report. Hospital officials said they are discussing the future of some of the affected buildings with insurance representatives.
