Indiana (Pa.) Regional Medical Center is asking unionized nurses to cancel their plans to strike next week, according to a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report.
Nurses scheduled the one-day strike for Nov. 26.
Hospital administrators asked the nurses to cancel the plans by noon Nov. 21 to prevent more than $1.5 million in temporary staffing costs that would result from the walkout, according to the report.
The Indiana Registered Nurses Association and medical center have been negotiating a new contract for about 380 union members.
Health insurance costs and wages reportedly have been key sticking points in the negotiations.
