Healthcare workers at Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home in Gloversville, N.Y., held a candlelight vigil Thursday night, according to a WAMC report.

1. The candlelight vigil was organized by 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East and members of the New York State Nurses Association.
2. Workers who demonstrated Thursday are seeking a new contract. Negotiations with hospital management have stretched over two years, according to the report.
3. 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East and members of the New York State Nurses Association have said the hospital's proposals "threaten to compromise the quality and safety of patient care," while hospital President and CEO Laurence Kelly accused union officials in June of using "rhetoric pulled from a downstate PR playbook" and attempting to mislead patients, according to WAMC.
