Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ohio to Lay Off 18 Employees

Lorain, Ohio-based Mercy Regional Medical Center will lay off 18 employees in the next month, according to a report by The Chronicle-Telegram.

The layoffs come after the hospital eliminated job openings, started voluntary time-off programs and cut spending on services and supplies, according to the report.

Mercy Regional Medical Center cited the sequestration and reduced Medicare reimbursement as the cause of the layoffs.
