McLaren Lapeer (Mich.) Region, a 222-bed acute care hospital, and unionized nurses reached a tentative contract agreement on July 13, two days after nurses authorized a walkout.
The tentative agreement covers about 227 nurses represented by the Michigan Nurses Association.
Chris Candela, president and CEO of McLaren Lapeer Region, told Becker's Hospital Review the union will provide details of the tentative agreement during information sessions July 18. Nurses are scheduled to vote on the deal July 20.
"We feel both parties were successful in meeting the goals of the negotiations with terms that are sustainable for our community hospital. We are cautiously optimistic that union membership will vote in favor of this deal. Details of the agreement will be withheld until after the union holds their informational sessions prior to the vote," said Mr. Candela.
Negotiations had been ongoing for about 15 months, with staffing being a key sticking point.
