Employees at Ellsworth-based Maine Coast Memorial Hospital are asking for a union election, according to The Ellsworth American.
The election would be to decide whether the employees would join the Maine State Nurses Association.
A hospital spokesperson told The Ellsworth American Maine Coast was notified that MSNA "filed a petition seeking to represent a group of technicians and licensed practical nurses at the hospital." Vanessa Sylvester, a union spokesperson, told the publication, "The technical employees at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital have indicated their wish to be organized with us, the union."
If a union election takes place, it would be conducted by the National Labor Relations Board. No election date has been set.
