Registered nurses and respiratory therapists, members of the 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East union, will hold an informational picket Dec. 9 in front of the Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center in Yonkers, N.Y. Workers are picketing to protest protracted labor contract negotiations, according to The Journal News.
2. NNRH workers picket over wages, working conditions: 4 things to know
Hospital employees and union representatives held an informational picket Dec. 2 at Elko-based Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital, asking for better working conditions, fair wages and quality healthcare.
3. Our Lady of Fatima Hospital employees picket over 'unfair treatment': 3 things to know
Members of the United Nurses and Allied Professionals Service and Maintenance Unit at North Providence, R.I.-based Our Lady of Fatima Hospital held an informational picket Nov. 24 over what they say is "unfair treatment" of employees by the hospital's owner, for-profit Prospect CharterCare.
4. Norwalk Hospital employees vote for unionization: 3 things to know
Norwalk (Conn.) Hospital employees voted Nov. 19 in favor of union representation. Employees voted 263-to-140 in favor of joining Connecticut Health Care Associates, the same union that has represented Norwalk Hospital registered nurses for more than three decades.
5. Mayo Clinic workers picket over contracts: 3 things to know
Maintenance workers at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea, Minn., held an informational picket Nov. 16 outside of the hospital. The maintenance workers, who are represented by SEIU Healthcare Minnesota, picketed to discuss proposals by the hospital during contract negotiations.
6. Kaiser mental health clinician strike averted, deal reached: 9 things to know
Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente reached a tentative contract agreement with mental health workers in time to avert a strike that was scheduled to begin Nov. 16. The tentative contract settlement provides a raise of more than 15 percent over three years.
7. Samaritan Hospital workers, community members rally over pay: 3 things to know
Workers at Troy, N.Y.-based Samaritan Hospital rallied Nov. 10 for better pay in the local healthcare field. Hundreds of nurses and their supporters rallied Nov. 9 at Richland, Wash.-based Kadlec Regional Medical Center, asking for a fair contract. 11. Contra Costa County nurses reach tentative agreement: 7 things to know
Nurses at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, a public hospital in Martinez, Calif., and clinics across Contra Costa County in November reached a tentative two-year contract agreement with management. The contract was slated to cover more than 900 nurses represented by the California Nurses Association, most of which work at the county hospital in Martinez.
12. RNs ratify 4-year contract with Lower Bucks Hospital: 4 things to know
Registered nurses at Lower Bucks Hospital in Bristol, Pa., in November ratified a new four-year contract with the hospital. The contract covers 160 members of the Nursing Association of Lower Bucks Hospital, part of the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses & Allied Professionals.
13.NJ nurses vote to ratify contract with Meridian Health: 5 things to know
Nurses at Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin, N.J., and Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, N.J., ratified a new contract with Neptune-based Meridian Health. The nurses, represented by the Health Professionals and Allied Employees union, ratified the 21-month contract Nov. 2.
