The healthcare industry added 20,200 jobs in August, with hospitals contributing 6,400 to that total, according to Fridays job report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Ambulatory healthcare services showed the biggest employment growth in the industry in August, adding 11,000 jobs. Nursing and residential care facilities gained 2,800 jobs last month.
Over the year, healthcare has added 328,000 jobs, according to the BLS.
Overall, U.S. employment grew by 156,000 in August.
