Sunrise Health System and its three Las Vegas hospitals, which are part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, have reached a tentative three-year contract with SEIU 1107.
The contract covers more than 4,700 healthcare workers, according to a news release shared with Becker's on behalf of the union. Sunrise Health System includes Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center, Sunrise Children's Hospital, Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center and MountainView Hospital as well as various outpatient diagnostic, imaging and surgical centers.
Union members, which include registered nurses, nursing assistants, techs, lab workers and other staff, reached a tentative agreement with Sunrise Health System on May 31, the release said. Workers must still approve the deal before it is final.
Under the tentative agreement, there is a 13.75 percent wage increase over the life of the contract and an additional $2.25 million for wage adjustments to align with competitive rates, according to the release. The tentative agreement also protects the employer-paid healthcare plan, prohibits subcontracting of imaging techs at MountainView Hospital, and includes improvements in on-call pay, scheduling practices, disciplinary procedures, and other key provisions, the union said.
"There's been inflation and some of our employees have not seen wage increases to meet the market in their job classifications in years," Mike Forson, RN, a pediatric intensive care unit nurse at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal on June 1. "Being able to secure the contract that addresses these issues is great for retention of these employees."
Antonio Castelan, HCA Healthcare Far West Division spokesperson, said in a statement: "We thank our communities for their ongoing support and our colleagues who continue to put the health and well-being of our patients first."
The tentative contract runs through March 31, 2026.
