Detroit Medical Center is looking into outsourcing its housekeeping services, which could result in 565 employees being laid off from its eight hospitals, according to a Crain's Detroit Business report.
DMC is considering the move as part of a review from its Dallas-based parent company, Tenet Healthcare. DMC has outsourced environmental and food services at different points in the past, according to the report, and doing the same for housekeeping now would cut costs.
The decision will be made before Dec. 1.
