Members of Service Employees International Union District 1199 have approved a labor contract with Cleveland Clinic Lutheran Hospital.
The union represents 170 workers, including maintenance workers, electricians, mechanics and nursing assistants, according to cleveland.com. Lutheran Hospital is a 203-bed acute care facility in Cleveland's Ohio City neighborhood.
Union workers delivered a notice in August indicating plans to strike Sept. 4. The new three-year deal averted the strike.
"After months of negotiations, the parties were able to reach this agreement Saturday afternoon," a joint news release shared with Becker's Sept. 3 states. "Voting began on Saturday night and concluded today with overwhelming support from union members."
Both parties said the contract provides fair benefits and improved wages. The release did not specify details.
