Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health announced its intent to increase the minimum wage for employees effective July 22, the health system announced June 28.
Here are three things to know:
1. The health system plans to increase its minimum wage from $11.50 to $12.50 per hour. Employees currently making $12.50 per hour will also see an increase in salary to maintain pay differentiation.
2. Officials said the change would affect more than 7,500 employees.
3. Atrium has sought to increase the minimum wage by 72.4 percent since 2012, effectively increasing it from $7.25 to $12.50 per hour.
