Allina Health workers approve new contract establishing $15 minimum wage

Around 3,000 workers at seven Minneapolis-based Allina Health hospitals have approved a labor contract that establishes a $15 per hour minimum wage.

The three-year contract between Allina and workers represented by SEIU Healthcare Minnesota also provides employment security protections as well as additional health and safety protections for workers, according to the union. It includes a wage increase in every year of the contract for all members, an increase in Allina's contribution toward the members' pension plan and a 25 percent increase in the amount of tuition reimbursement available to all members annually.

The seven hospitals are located across the Twin Cities region, including in Shakopee, Minn., and Buffalo, Minn.

SEIU Healthcare Minnesota also negotiated a minimum wage of $15 per hour in new contracts for 3,000 hospital workers at eight other Minnesota hospitals, including Minneapolis-based Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, Minneapolis-based Fairview Health Services, HealthEast Care System in St. Paul, North Memorial Health Care in Robbinsdale and St. Louis Park-based Park Nicollet Health Services.
