Yale New Haven, Day Kimball Healthcare partner to improve clinical care

Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health System and Putnam, Conn.-based Day Kimball Healthcare inked an agreement to become community partners and enhance the breadth of clinical care services available at Day Kimball.

Under the partnership, Day Kimball will become one of Yale New Haven's "community partners" and will continue to participate in the health system's purchasing network, an arrangement that began nearly a year ago.

The organizations will also work to identify additional opportunities for collaboration, such as the creation of an eICU clinical service at Day Kimball. Officials said they also hope to expand Day Kimball patients' access to specialty care and other medical providers in northeast Connecticut through Yale New Haven's medical group and existing affiliations with various providers, including the clinical arm of the New Haven-based Yale School of Medicine.

Day Kimball is the second organization to become one of Yale New Haven's community partners. Bristol (Conn.) Hospital affiliated with the health system in 2013.

"For more than 122 years Day Kimball's mission has been to serve the health needs of our community through our core values of clinical quality, customer service, fiscal responsibility and local control," said Day Kimball Hospital Interim President and CEO Joseph Adiletta. "Becoming a community partner of Yale New Haven Health will allow us to preserve and expand access to first class care close to home in northeast Connecticut. We are proud to join with such a recognized and esteemed partner in this effort, particularly a partner that so closely shares our vision and values of what healthcare should be and how it should be delivered."
