Montefiore Health System, based in Bronx, N.Y., has added White Plains (N.Y.) Hospital to its network upon receiving approval form the New York State Health Commissioner.
The regulatory approval process for the partnership has been ongoing since February 2013, when the organizations announced their interest in a strategic partnership.
The board of directors for 292-bed White Plains Hospital will remain intact with the addition of three members from Montefiore's board. Three members of the White Plains board will be added to Montefiore's board, as well.
Jon B. Schandler, CEO of White Plains Hospital, plans to retire this spring after 34 years at the helm of the organization. Susan Fox, the hospital's current president, will succeed him as president and CEO.
Montefiore now consists of seven hospitals for a total of 2,455 beds.
