Wheeling (W.Va.) Hospital has acquired Cadiz, Ohio-based Harrison Community Hospital.
Under the terms of the agreement, HCH will have access to Wheeling Hospital's advanced diagnostics and specialty care services, among other resources. Once the acquisition is completed, Harrison County will still retain mineral rights under HCH. Mineral rights refers to the right to exploit and/or mine any or all of the minerals lying below the surface of the property.
John DeBlasis, acting manager of Wheeling Hospital affiliate Bellaire, Ohio-based Belmont Community Hospital, will also serve as acting manager of HCH.
Plans for the acquisition were revealed in December 2016.
"As the region's leader in healthcare, we are excited about bringing our high level of services to Harrison County. Since announcing this venture, we have been warmly welcomed by many county residents and elected officials who are pleased with the acquisition and the healthcare opportunities it brings," said Wheeling Hospital CEO Ron Violi.
