University of Texas Health San Antonio President William Henrich, MD, announced Tuesday the hospital's partnership with Houston-based MD Anderson Cancer Center will "go live" in February, according to the San Antonio Express-News.
Dr. Henrich said the partnership will give UT Health San Antonio and its patients the opportunity to participate in enhanced clinical trials and multidisciplinary programs, according to the report.
Under the partnership, which was revealed earlier this month, MD Anderson will rebrand UT San Antonio's cancer center to the UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center.
However, the cancer center will continue to operate as normal and remain a part of the UT system.
San Antonio cancer center officials also previously said the facility will reimburse MD Anderson for a portion of the costs incurred as a result of the affiliation.
