The board of Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services in Gallup, N.M., has approved a joint venture in which the University of New Mexico, UNM Health Sciences Center in Albuquerque and LHP Hospital Group in Plano, Texas, will become its new owners.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. An Albuquerque Journal report indicated UNM and its Health Sciences Center, the largest academic medical center in New Mexico, would have a 20 percent ownership stake in RMCHCS. The private, for-profit LHP Hospital Group would own 80 percent.
All parties are going through due diligence and hope to sign a definitive agreement this year.
RMCHCS is a private integrated delivery system that includes a 69-bed acute-care hospital and several clinics throughout its county.
