The Global Center for Health Security at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha partnered with NYC Health + Hospitals and Atlanta-based Emory University to develop and conduct emergency medical trials for infectious diseases, according to Homeland Preparedness News.
Through the partnership, the center will focus on developing clinical trials for emerging pathogens, such as Ebola, Middle East respiratory syndrome, severe acute respiratory syndrome and medical issues associated with those pathogens.
The center also features a national quarantine unit, which utilizes virtual reality and advanced clinical simulation to train government officials, healthcare providers and first responders who may be deployed in the event of an outbreak.
The financial terms of the partnership, if any, were not disclosed.
