Kansas City-based University of Kansas Hospital and Topeka, Kan.-based Stormont Vail Health's Cotton O'Neil Cancer Center agreed to embark on a joint venture to expand radiation oncology services in the area, according to The Topeka Capital-Journal.
As part of the collaboration, UKH will provide radiation oncology services to the cancer center. The contract between the cancer center and its current radiology service provider, Radiation and Nuclear Medicine, is set to expire in February.
According to the agreement, Stormont will be the majority owner in the organizations' joint venture and will handle the administrative aspect of the company while UKH officials will be responsible for providing professional services, according to the article.
Stormont officials said no staffing changes will take place.
