United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, N.Y. and Rochester (N.Y.) Regional Health System have officially merged.
Under the merger agreeement, United Memorial will keep its name, as well as a local board, according to a news release.
"The full affiliation of United Memorial is another example of how Rochester Regional is creating a model healthcare system that helps communities get healthy and stay healthy," Eric J. Bieber, MD, president and CEO of Rochester Regional, said in the release. "Our model will maintain access and control cost by keeping care within the local community with seamless access to the highest quality specialty acute care for patients throughout the region, no matter where you live or through which system-wide door you enter."
Dan Ireland, president of United Memorial added in the release, "Joining Rochester Regional Health System secures our ability to provide quality healthcare to our community for the long-term."
United Memorial is the latest healthcare organization to join Rochester Regional, which formed last year when Rochester General Health System and Unity Health System combined.
